Empowering Youth Through Soccer and Leadership

Youth Leadership Programs are designed to empower young individuals by cultivating their skills, confidence, and ability to lead in various settings. These programs provide a platform for youth to explore their interests, enhance their decision-making abilities, and develop essential life skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

What do we offer at Assistant Coach program?

The Assistant Coach program provides participants aged 16 to 18 with hands-on coaching experience, where they will lead games and activities for campers and players. This advanced role includes a week of training to equip Assistant Coaches with the skills and knowledge necessary for effective coaching and program management, fostering both leadership development and a positive soccer experience for participants.

Who can participate?

The Assistant Coach program is open to individuals aged 16 to 18 who have a passion for soccer and a desire to develop their coaching and leadership skills. Participants should be enthusiastic about mentoring younger players and contributing positively to the soccer community.

Who are the coaches?

The DC Way coaches are a group of amazing men and women who have obtained a professional license to coach. We are truly proud to say that every member of our staff has exceptional personality traits and coaching skills such as a positive approach to coaching, honesty and fairness with players, a love for the game, a passion for teaching and instructing, and extensive knowledge of games, activities, and skills to develop players.

All of the DC Way coaches are certified soccer coaches with extensive experience working with children. Our coaches have all passed mandatory background checks, have at least two years of experience working with children, and have received First Aid training.

What are the expectations for Assistant Coaches?

As an Assistant Coach, you will be expected to lead and coordinate a variety of games and drills, maintain a positive and engaging atmosphere throughout sessions, and contribute to the overall success and enjoyment of DC Way programs. You will also be responsible for developing your leadership skills through practical coaching experiences while ensuring a smooth flow of activities for all participants.

What should my child bring? What should my child wear?

Participants should bring a water bottle, a healthy snack, and any specific gear requested in the program welcome email. Comfortable athletic wear, preferably with soccer cleats and shin guards, is recommended for on-field activities.

How much does it cost?

Participation in the Assistant Coach program is free, and students receive compensation for their time as part of this role.
